CNC Machine Tool Field Service Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused CNC Machine Tool Field Service Engineer to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair CNC machinery at customer sites. The role requires strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, technical problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The position involves frequent travel to customer facilities.


Key Responsibilities:

•⁠ ⁠Install, commission, and align CNC machines and tooling systems at customer sites

•⁠ ⁠Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on CNC equipment

•⁠ ⁠Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and corrective repairs

•⁠ ⁠Read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics, manuals, and blueprints

•⁠ ⁠Calibrate machine controls (Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Heidenhain, etc.)

•⁠ ⁠Troubleshoot control systems, PLCs, drives, and servo systems

•⁠ ⁠Provide technical support and training to customers and end-users

•⁠ ⁠Document service visits, repairs, and parts usage in service reports

•⁠ ⁠Coordinate with service managers and technical teams to ensure timely issue resolution

•⁠ ⁠Maintain tools, test equipment, and service vehicles in good working condition

•⁠ ⁠Represent the company professionally and ensure customer satisfaction


Qualifications:


Education & Experience:

•⁠ ⁠Associate’s degree or technical certification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field

•⁠ ⁠2+ years of experience servicing CNC machine tools (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.)

•⁠ ⁠Experience with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, or similar


Skills & Requirements:

•⁠ ⁠Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills

•⁠ ⁠Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical drawings

•⁠ ⁠Familiarity with safety standards and proper lockout/tagout procedures

•⁠ ⁠Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and basic hand tools

•⁠ ⁠Excellent communication, customer service, and time management skills

•⁠ ⁠Willingness to travel extensively and work flexible hours

•⁠ ⁠Valid driver’s license and clean driving record


Preferred Qualifications:

•⁠ ⁠Experience with automation systems, robotics, or multi-axis CNC machinery

•⁠ ⁠Prior OEM or machine tool distributor experience

•⁠ ⁠Knowledge of CAD/CAM software and G-code/M-code programming

•⁠ ⁠Bilingual (depending on region or customer base)


Work Environment & Physical Demands:

•⁠ ⁠Frequent travel (up to 75%) to customer sites

•⁠ ⁠Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in industrial environments

•⁠ ⁠May require climbing, kneeling, bending, and standing for long periods

•⁠ ⁠Use of PPE as required
